“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
Restored Hearts Counseling (RHC) is founded on the biblical understanding that true restoration reaches beyond outward circumstances. The Lord desires to bring healing and restoration to the heart, soul, mind and spirit, bringing a person into greater freedom, truth, repentance, forgiveness and wholeness through His Word.
The condition of our heart influences our thoughts, our words, our attitudes and ultimately our actions. What takes root within us can affect how we see ourselves, how we respond to others, how we make decisions and how we relate to God.
Biblical inner healing therefore involves allowing God’s truth to expose what has wounded, distorted, burdened or influenced the inner person, and then bringing those areas before Him for healing, repentance, forgiveness and restoration.
THE HEART
Scripture teaches us to guard what is taking place within our hearts:
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” — Proverbs 4:23
Y’shua also taught that what comes out of a person is connected to what is within the heart:
“For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” — Matthew 12:34
Inner healing begins with bringing the condition of the heart before God rather than simply dealing with outward symptoms.
Psalm 139:23–24 says:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
This is an invitation for God to reveal what needs to be surrendered, healed, corrected and restored.
THE MIND AND THOUGHTS
The mind is another important area of biblical restoration.
Past experiences, wounds, fear, rejection, unforgiveness and false beliefs can influence the way a person thinks. Scripture calls us to bring our thinking under the truth of God’s Word.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2
We are also instructed to examine what occupies our thoughts:
“Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure… think on these things.” — Philippians 4:8
Biblical counseling seeks to help a person recognize destructive thought patterns and replace them with thoughts that agree with God’s truth.
WORDS
Words matter because Scripture connects our speech with what is taking place within us.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” — Proverbs 18:21
And:
“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life.” — Proverbs 15:4
Restoration includes learning to recognize words spoken from fear, anger, bitterness, rejection, hopelessness or unforgiveness, and learning instead to speak words that are truthful, gracious, wise and consistent with God’s Word.
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying.” — Ephesians 4:29
ATTITUDE AND CHARACTER
Inner healing is not only about what happened to us; it also involves allowing God to transform how we respond.
Scripture says:
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Y’shua.” — Philippians 2:5
We are called to put away bitterness, wrath, anger and malice:
“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice.” — Ephesians 4:31
And instead:
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” — Ephesians 4:32
This is part of the process of becoming restored from the inside outward.
ACTIONS AND FRUIT
What is happening internally eventually produces outward fruit.
Y’shua taught:
“For every tree is known by his own fruit.” — Luke 6:44
Galatians 5:22–23 describes the fruit produced by the Spirit, including love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.
Restoration therefore involves more than understanding our wounds. It includes allowing God to transform our responses, choices, relationships and behaviour.
REPENTANCE
Repentance is an important part of biblical restoration.
Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God. It is not condemnation; it is an invitation to return to the right path.
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” — Acts 3:19
David demonstrated this posture of repentance in Psalm 51:
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
True repentance brings sin into the light, acknowledges what is wrong, turns away from it and seeks to walk differently.
FORGIVENESS AND RESTORATION
Forgiveness can be an important part of the healing journey.
Scripture teaches:
“And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another.” — Ephesians 4:32
Forgiveness does not mean pretending that something harmful never happened or declaring that what happened was acceptable. Rather, biblical forgiveness involves surrendering the matter to God and refusing to allow bitterness to continue ruling the heart.
DELIVERANCE AND FREEDOM
Restored Hearts Counseling also recognizes the biblical ministry of deliverance and spiritual freedom.
Scripture teaches that Y’shua came to set people free:
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36
We are also instructed to:
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7
Deliverance should always be approached with humility, discernment and submission to God—not fear, sensationalism or the glorification of spiritual darkness.
The purpose of deliverance is not to create fear concerning evil spirits. The focus is on Y’shua, truth, repentance, freedom and restoration.
THE WHOLE PERSON
Restored Hearts Counseling approaches inner healing as a journey of bringing the whole person before God:
HEART — What is taking root within me?
SOUL — What wounds, experiences and burdens need healing?
MIND — What thoughts and beliefs need to be brought into agreement with God’s truth?
SPIRIT — Am I walking in submission and relationship with God?
WORDS — What am I speaking?
ATTITUDE — What is influencing the way I respond?
ACTIONS — What fruit is my life producing?
REPENTANCE — What do I need to turn away from?
FORGIVENESS — What do I need to surrender to God?
DELIVERANCE — Where do I need freedom from spiritual bondage?
RESTORATION — What is God rebuilding within me?
OUR FOUNDATION
Restored Hearts Counseling seeks to point people back to the Word of God and to the restoring work of Y’shua.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me… to bind up the brokenhearted… to set at liberty them that are bruised.” — Isaiah 61:1
“He restoreth my soul.” — Psalm 23:3
Restoration is a process. Healing may involve recognizing what has happened, acknowledging what is taking place within, bringing those areas before God, repenting where necessary, extending forgiveness, renewing the mind, changing unhealthy patterns and learning to walk in the freedom and truth found in God’s Word.
RESTORED HEARTS. RENEWED MINDS. TRANSFORMED LIVES.
